Ceramic Pumpkin Making Workshop w/Karen Casteel
Saturday September 27, 9am - 12pm
Fall Pumpkin Making Workshop
Come make pumpkins with Karen! In this workshop, you will learn to throw & pinch pumpkin forms, then add stems and leaves.
There will be 30 minutes of detailed demonstration throwing and handbuilding pumpkins, allowing 2 1/2 hours to create pumpkins. Most participants finish 1-2 pumpkins during this time (max of 3).
If making on a potter's wheel, you must have a basic understanding of throwing. Pieces will be glazed with one glaze choice, or you may take the bisqued pumpkin to your own studio to glaze and fire.
Experience Helpful. Cost $95 (Max 10 students)
Frame Making Workshop w/Joe Venzie
Have you ever wanted a pair of eyewear that was a color you were able to choose and fit just perfectly? Join Studio Union resident artist, Joe Venzie for a custom eyewear making class.
Joe is a second-generation Licensed Optician who has been making eyeglass lenses for 30 years, both in the US and all over the world. Wanting to expand his scope and being inspired by all the whacky and unique glasses in Elton John's collection, he learned to become a lunetier, French for eyeglass frame maker.
In this workshop, students will learn how to design, measure, hand cut and polish their own pair of glasses they can wear! If they have a current prescription, Joe can even make single vision lenses to fit your new creations!
No Experience Required. Cost $300.
Tuesday Evenings: 7/15, 7/22, 7/29, 6:30-8pm
